| Be-Lite kits released |
[10 Nov 2009|07:34pm] |
The Be-Lite is now available as a variety of kits starting at $8,095.00.
Kit - Super Economy: $8,095.00 Complete Kit, SUPER ECONOMY package with Carbon Fiber hybrid tail. Will require engine, prop, panel, misc parts, welding, a small amount of plywood, aluminum sheet, and your own cowl if you want one.
KIT - Carbon Fiber: $17,895.00 Complete Kit, Upgraded Carbon Fiber wings and tail. Includes everything except the engine, prop, and finishing supplies.
Ready to Fly: $29,995, fully assembled, with engine.
RTF Carbon Fiber: $54,995. Fully assembled, includes BRS, upgraded panel, lighter wings.
Reference URLs http://jameswiebe.blogspot.com/ http://www.beliteaircraft.com/ http://www.beliteaircraftstore.com/
Kit Prices BASE: $12,895.00 The COMPLETE KIT is EVERYTHING to build a plane firewall back, with the exception of glue, finishing supplies, engine, prop, mount, battery and minor miscellaneous items. The kit includes a composite Carbon Fiber firewall and sharp looking engine cowl. It also includes everything needed for a fantastic basic panel. We recommend a MZ-34 engine or a Simonini engine. If you build it as an experimental, you can do whatever you want for engine selection. Check with your DER. This will meet Part 103 ultralight legal if you use the correct lightweight engine and build to our specifications.
BASE-$1300 The ECONOMY KIT allows you to save substantial money through the deletion of four subgroups from the kit. 1. No plywood supplied for seat or panel. You can get what you need for $30 or less from your local lumber yard. 2. No instrument panel package provided is provided. You'll need to scrounge engine instruments, airspeed, and altimeter. 3. No fuel system or fuel gauge is supplied. 4. We do not supply our carbon fiber composite firewall or cowl with this particular kit. The plane flies great without a cowl; and the firewall is easily replaced with aluminum sheet. All of these missing items are easily scrounged by the airport hound. Use your own .025 or .032 aluminum for the firewall.
BASE-$4500 The SUPERECONOMY KIT is the same as the ECONOMY KIT except the fuselage is NOT PREWELDED. However, all of the fuselage tubing is cut and notched. You must be able to weld, or willing to learn. You MUST be able to build/weld the fuselage from blueprints, which we supply with the kit.
ANY-$300 The HYBRID CARBON FIBER kits are the same as the above, but come with hybrid carbon fiber tail feathers (elevator, rudder) and is less expensive than the steel tails.
BASE+$5000 UPGRADED CARBON FIBER WINGS and tail kits is the same as base, except the wing construction is much lighter, due to Carbon Fiber ribs and spars. Specifically: 1. spars are made from Carbon Fiber, and preconstructed with strut attachment fittings bonded on. 2. Main ribs are made from 1/4 and 1/2 inch Carbon Fiber sheets, waterjet cut to exact size. 3. False ribs are Carbon Fiber bonded over light plywood, and waterjet cut to exact size. When we build them and add on the goodies, we sell the finished product for $50K. You can save a lot of money by building it yourself. The light weight allows tremendous engine or panel options. Make a bush plane which will take off in 100 feet; it's whatever you want. Also includes hybrid carbon fiber tail feathers.
You can also buy parts in subgroups rather than as an entire kit if you wish to go your own direction.
ON A BUDGET AND A LIMITED TIME Now, if you're on a time and money budget: The Backyard Flyer UltraLight is comparable in style, and can be had, RTF, $18,500. This is part 103 legal. Note, they also offer The Backyard Flyer 2-seater RTF starting at $25k. This is NOT part 103 legal. You can't register it as experimental unless you build 51% of it. They don't have a Light Sport certificate for it. At one point there was an exemption for 2-seat ultralights for training, but that's no longer available. I'm not really sure what you could do with this plane, so I wouldn't buy the non-ultralight model.

| Playing WoW on a laptop |
[10 Nov 2009|07:24pm] |
If I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NS330D laptop with a Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family video card in it, am I going to be able to play WoW? (And by play, I mean with some degree if not-suckage.)
I am getting conflicting reports from various Google sources, and I don't want to try installing everything and getting all excited to play again and discovering that no, it sucks big time on my laptop. :(
Thanks! :)

| About that little annoying 'update' yesterday |
[10 Nov 2009|12:42pm] |
Only noticed it late tonight, but no matter how hard I try, I can't log in to my two Battle.net linked WoW accounts at the same time. In fact the second copy of WoW just refuses to load up at all.
What the heck Blizzard, one would think that you would *want* me to pay you 2 subscriptions per month, rather than one or none?
I checked with others on Ghostlands trade chat last night and they reported the same issue. Has anyone on other servers had the same problem?

I want to go to bed. I'm on the computer instead. I'm on the computer because I don't feel like pumping. When I pump I can go to bed.
This is lame. Good night internets.

Today I discovered just how "emergency" my laptop is for purposes of playing WoW. I either need a more powerful laptop, or I need to get my monitor fixed on my desktop. Or both.
So, turning this from a mere cry for sympathy into a question that some people may be interested in, "What are the worst conditions you've put up with to play?" There has to be someone out there who's got worse than my laptop with integrated video and what seemed like a good amount of memory at the time.

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - If You Leave (Extended Version) |
] |
[mm] It was a slow music week, so I'm catching up on some of the backlog from the last couple weeks. However, there's still some new music this week, along with one track from the back of the archives.
For this week's pick, I'm going with Liar.
As always, discussion isn't required, but is certainly welcome.
01. | The Antlers - Hospice
How much of the band’s new album, Hospice, is taken from actual events, and how much is imagined? The story within this concept album is based on the nightmare scenario that too many of us have experienced or will experience: the death of a loved one from cancer. A hospice is the last stop for many of these victims and, hopefully, a peaceful one. With a combination of atmosphere and lyricism, The Antlers’ Hospice is one of the best albums of the year so far. In your face and uncomfortable, but entirely believable (and to many, relatable), Hospice may be too grim for repeated listening. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t listen to it. It’s a triumph, and if this album is any indication, there is still great work to come.
Bear (Indie) |
02. | Dragonette - Fixin To Thrill
Dragonette is blessed. The laws of logic and music are useless around this band. On their second live date, they were already supporting New Order. Now, on their second album, these Canadian synth-poppers have undergone a complete reinvention. 2007’s Galore was built around the guitar, whilst Fixin To Thrill instantly trumps it by moving on to a mix of processed sounds and synths. Add some new fire in the band’s bellies and retro tendencies, and you are on to a winner. Time and time again, there are unbelievable moments on this record, the band turning this into an artform over the course of the brisk 40 minutes. Synths are transformed beyond description, the vocals taken to new territory and the beats unapologetic.
Liar (Electro-Pop) |
03. | Laarks - An Exaltation of Laarks
Good things come to those who wait. And An Exaltation of Laarks, Eau Claire band Laarks' debut full-length, is well worth the wait. Recorded over the span of the last two years, this elusive album has finally come to fruition. An Exaltation of Laarks is sort of the antithesis to most of the music made in Eau Claire today - one of the reasons it's so successful. Abounding with keyboards, explosive drums and loud guitars, Laarks are more kinetic than their local contemporaries, due in large part to drummer Brian Moen's spastic drumming. It helps there are no banjos, no acoustic guitars and definitely no snowy cabins to hide out in. They are a breath of fresh, indie air in a heavily folk laden music scene. A lot of Eau Claire music sounds good, but this sounds truly great.
All The Words You Can't Say Right (Indie) |
04. | The Polyamorous Affair - Bolshevik Disco
When a soul producer and a schoolteacher combine to form a Russian-influenced electronic album, the results are bound to be interesting. But in the case of the Polyamorous Affair, the results are actually good. Comprised of husband-and-wife Eddie Chacon and Sissy Sainte-Marie, the duo has now issued their second release, Bolshevik Disco. The interplay between Chacon’s subtly glam voice and Sainte-Marie’s frosty, spacey one often evokes Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin’s collaborations. Bolshevik Disco is a fun album that’s well worth listening to, not only for the quality of the individual elements, but for the way they come together in perfect synergy.
White Hot Magic (Electronic) |
Compilations:
01. | Various Artists - Handraizer
And to round out the usual five this week, I'm throwing in one of my favorite tracks from way back... as I was cleaning out the CD collection, I found this in one of the boxes, so - here you go.
Snap - Do You See The Light (Trance) |
RSS:
or A word of warning - if you subscribe via iTunes, it will replace the album name and genre ID3 tags. If all you want is the music, knock yourself out. If you're OCD about the tags, use the generic RSS and something other than iTunes.

Last week Zoe finished the first of the Harry Potter books. It started out that Brad or I would read half of a chapter every night before bed. That wasn't fast enough so Z started reading it on her own. I don't remember when we started it, but she read four chapters the last day so she could find out what happened. She even had Quirrell pegged as the bad guy ;)
Sunday we watched the movie. My rule is that if there's a book - you have to read it before you can see it. There's a few simple reasons for that. One being that the books are always better. Another being that they aren't as scary when you know what's going to happen. There were a few moments where she would get a little nervous but then Brad or I would ask ... "what happens next" and she would tell us and relax. When it was over I asked her what she thought. She replied:
"I liked the book better."

| SP spell rotation |
[09 Nov 2009|03:26pm] |
So we were doing Sarth 3d today and I felt I was not pulling my weight dps wise...among others, but i'm working on my failings right now :)....I always felt SP's have such a slow start...dot dot cast that do that, then start MF'ing.
I'm looking for some opinions on spell rotations. Do you even use SW:D? etc etc. I'm off to work, so I can start reading up on this when I get back later.
Thanks.

| ST:TNG Tech Manual - Matter/Antimatter ratios |
[08 Nov 2009|10:16pm] |
OK, the tech manual says: 25:1 = idle 10:1 = power generation 1:1 = high warp (above warp 8)
HOW CAN THIS BE!?!!? M/AR MUST BE 1:1!!!!
BUZZZZ
Remember, the ship transfers bulk power via PLASMA.
Plasma isn't photons, plasma is MATTER.
At high warp, the return plasma is hot enough to simply be reenergized, and you want to save as much energy as possible.
At idle, your return plasma might even be a hot gas, in which case you'd need to recondense it and reinject it into the reaction under more controlled circumstances.

[08 Nov 2009|10:38pm] |
Yes.
I know I'm a Holy Priest. I know I'm wearing a Shadow Priest belt, and don't NEED the hit. But if you didn't notice from the fact that the rest of my gear is a hodgepodge of random blues and purples, I am what you might call a "fresh eighty". The belt that dropped was a considerable upgrade from the mid-70s belt I had before, +hit or not.
Trust me, I'm more than capable of healing your Heroic UK run even with one item giving me 38 hit. I'm more than aware of how my class and spec work. The fact that I healed your sorry ass through the first two bosses wasn't enough of an indication?
No love, Cy
